God's Double For Your ______
I traveled to California last week for work. It was my first time staying for that length of time and the first time I rented a car to get around. While driving one day and listening to Sirius XM, "Can you stand the rain" by New Edition played. It was 74 degrees and sunny. My windows were down and I was singing along to the top of my lungs. It was glorious. Then to my surprise, the song played again, but this time is was accapela. When I looked at the dash, I read the words, "Double Play," and a voiceover which said something to the effect of, "So good, we play it twice." This provided the opportunity for me to sing all over again. I was low key in my feelings because I too have Sirius XM, but I've never heard this action. It got me to thinking about the goodness of God and in this season, to what extent are we open to allow God to perform a "Double Play" in our lives?!
Let me be the first, ME! God do it! I am open to an encore blessing! Slow down though Steph because often the challenge precedes the abundance. If we are to avail the double play, we must also endure the tribulation. Nevertheless, it is critical for us to recall to remain focused on the promise as opposed to the pain. God holds true to His Word and so must we. The God of the 'Double Play" provided a double scripture and multiplied the meaning therein. John 10:10 declares, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Not only did Jesus come to give us life but His sacrifice amplified our existence. In other words, Jesus did a "Double Play!" So in return, we must posture ourselves to give Him double praise, double worship, double glory, double ______.
God's blessings of favor are upon us daily. And even in those times when we are pushed to our limits, we can ask for a double portion of His spirit (2 Kings 2:9), to navigate whatever situation we are presented. We can encourage ourselves as we wait for God to engage His blessings for our lives and we can create our own XM channel to give Him praise and honor and glory for who He is and who He continues to be in the earth. Life doesn't always present sunny, roll down your window and sing moments; in fact sometimes those opportunities appear fewer and farther apart. Yet the God we serve operates in surprises, just like the "Double Play" I listened to in the car. Indeed He is for us. We are reminded of Romans 8:31-39: "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Let God do a "Double Play" in your life. Hey Job, what say you (Job 42:12)? Let God In and invite Him to do His best work. Roll your windows down, sing and enjoy. Repeat.
