Adjacency Will Not Stop Me!

So, we had a snow event last week. When I moved to the south from the Midwest, I didn’t understand the flurry of activity prior to a predicted storm. However, thirty plus years later, I’m “one of them,” stocking up on essentials and those items that will make sheltering in place a little easier or at minimum much fluffier.  After a day and a half, I elected to leave the house to go a class at the Y. Upon return, I noticed two flowers in our front yard that bloomed. They were beautiful, but what made them even more striking is the snow that was adjacent to them. We are 20 some days from spring in terms of the calendar, but the weather will do what it pleases. My mother stood and examined the flowers with me. She said, “One thing for sure, those flowers are saying they don’t care what the weather is, when it’s time, they will come forth!” Those words hit my spirit deep! C’mon Mommy for the “blogspiration.”

We needn’t wait for spring to pop out and show (Thanks K.Dot). Whatever God has placed inside of us, regardless of the environmental conditions that present, we must be committed to actualizing our purpose – God’s intentions in the earth. Timing may be suspect with us, but it is undeniably absolute with God. As in Ecclesiastes 3:1, God has an appointed time for everything. Regardless of the conditions, what we see or what we believe, God’s providence will go forth if we yield ourselves to His perfect will.

Daily we are bombarded with folx making decisions unbothered by the consequences. Why then are we hesitant to do what God says that may very well positively impact the trajectory of someone else? Those flowers could care less about snow being in the distance – even sharing the same soil. Perhaps you are situated next to someone or something that appears contrary to what God’s spoken to you. How might you remain focused, even resolute to engage what you’ve been instructed? The circumstances don’t take God by surprise. Time out for shrinking. We have a small window of time to move on what He’s instructed, on what we’ve prayed for, on what we’ve hoped and dared to even dream. What’s hindering you? No matter what is adjacent, don’t allow it to overwhelm you, overcome you, overdue you - bloom where you are planted and allow God to get the glory!
