And She Believed…
Unapologetically, this one is for the ladies. If you read this blog often, you may be thinking, which one isn’t? But in all seriousness, I fell compelled and nurtured by the Holy Spirit to place a gentle reminder in the atmosphere that you, my sista, are incredible! You are wise! You are kind; and if you are acting beyond the boundaries of who God created and ordained for you to be, with haste get in alignment and keep it moving. We haven’t got time to roll with the enemy for long periods of time. There is too much to be done and too much at stake. But it all starts with out belief.
Luke 1:45 decrees, “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Sista, may I ask you a question? If you are set up like me, you may walk around the house feverishly searching for something on your person. Or you go into the kitchen on a mission only to forget what beckoned you there in the first place. But amongst the barrage of messaging to you regarding your wit, your body autonomy, your need to be protected and attacking your reason for holding and incubating joy, where did you leave your belief? Did you abandon it or is it barely noticeable in the crevices of your heart? I screenshot this scripture from my meditation on May 12th of this year. I cannot recall the specifics or the reasoning as to why I did, but perhaps I needed a reminder, as you may. And here it is: God desires for us to hold on to what’s been placed in our mind, our heart, our spirit and our soul. Whatever the world presents to make us think otherwise is false and needn’t be entertained.
Now, let me be clear. As the ancestors would say, “All folk ain’t kinfolk.” Just over the weekend, I encountered two instances of “sistas behaving badly,” and not to my surprise, at church. Selah. As I’ve shared before, I always had loving encounters with women until I turned 40. It was at the time that I assumed the wisdom of my sister and soror, Stacy that spoke to me the phrase, “Hurt people, hurt people.” Accordingly, when I encounter the nastiness and nosiness, I am reminded that somewhere along the trajectory, the sista abandoned her belief and is in denial about her ability, through God to engage it again. While I am still working on my southside sigh or roll of eye to the situation (or transparently, the persona), I am grateful that we can all connect with the faith of a mustard seed to “believe again” even when it feels as though there is nothing to believe.
God’s hope and belief for us goes far beyond what we can imagine - so much so that it may feel ridiculous for us to look for the manifestation. Yet whatever God placed inside of you was intended for a purpose; and it is up to you to believe it like your next breath. God is faithful to perform what we believe! People can let us down. It may not be their intention but it is a unavoidable reality. In contrast, God cannot fail. This is in correlation to our belief. What does it hurt us to believe if we know that God cannot fail? God will perfect that which concerneth us, but it begins with our belief. What are you believing God for today? This month? This year? Believe like Mary and watch God.
