It’s really funny to me that my mom, who lives with us is so inundated with dessert. Growing up, dessert was for special occasions, like birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. Somehow, unbeknownst to me, my mother who was not an endorser of dessert growing up, now expects dessert following each meal. Lol! But in reality, as a child, I can recall dessert being the exception. I would awaken on Saturday mornings to my mom baking a cake. It was just like God to quicken me just in time to lick the bowl filled with cake batter. It was the best thing ever! It was sweet and all consuming. While thinking about the fact that cake batter is now few and far in between because of my gluten allergy, I can appreciate the sweetness of God no matter the circumstance!
A few days ago, I saw a post that reflected that January was a long year. Are you in agreement? Feeling like the 2019 you envisioned is being held up? Well, fret no more. I dare not promise that all your troubles have or will dissipate, but I can promise that no matter the struggle, Jesus is still as good as cake batter! Trace the hand of God in your life and I’m willing to bet that you will come to the same conclusion. God took me through in January. I began the month with pain and tremors that overtook my right arm. I had an appointment scheduled on January 3rd, that was rescheduled until January 30th – nevertheless, He was a keeper! Our daughter had car trouble, and she lives 7 and 1/2 hours away, but she was okay. It was cold, our hot water heater burst, water cascaded everywhere, but we survived! We got paid in mid December and not again until January 31st, but God was (and is) a sustainer!!!!!
What do you stand in need of? What are you electing to relinquish to God because He can take care of it like none other? No matter what we experience, God remains on the throne of grace, and Jesus continues to make intercession on our behalf. Psalm 119:103 decrees, “How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” In other words, just like cake batter! Yet we cannot appreciate and consume the sweetness of God while operating with bitterness in our hearts. Might we return to an expectation of God? Might we expect a move of God to arrive when there isn’t a special occasion? Might we trust Him enough to believe that He will show up and send forth blessings at any given moment? That is the God we serve. Prepared to bless us for no reason at all, as in the simplicity of a Saturday morning. Go head and lick up all the blessings God has ordained just for you unapologetically!
